Teacher - TDSB, YRDSB
Thank you for visiting my page! My pursuit for a career in Education came from the experience I gathered acting in theatres for various communities across Canada. Born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario I was a sensitive yet passionate youngster and found my way (through the education system of course!) into an arts focused high school (go Wexford Vikings!) and then set on the path of becoming an actor. Upon graduating Ryerson University's Theatre Program I had the privilege of working in film, television, and theatre for almost a decade. But eventually, for me, school became more important.
Out of all my experiences, it is the shared moments in a live show that ignite my passion the most. Having performed Shakespeare for youth in downtown Toronto Theatres and worked on social justice shows in remote Saskatchewan towns, I am drawn to the feelings that those experiences elicited. The conversation and growth that can happen in a theatrical environment is one dependent on community and, most importantly, listening. It is this shared experience that brought me to Teaching and Education.

Professionalism
Teaching Pedagogy
I believe in working with the curriculum and, most notably, investigating the areas where modifications need to occur. I believe in the Constructivist classroom where learning will be focused on students making meaning out of their experience rather than stuffing in knowledge of a subject. Maintaining constructive conversation is the most enriching process when pursuing education and the "show, tell, do" approach of yore is not one I will be harnessing.
I will learn with and from my students and educate in the spirit of mutual understanding.
